An Australian perspective on ad:tech New York

It’s certainly been an amazing first day of Ad:tech New York. One thing that really hit me is the sheer scale of things here. Nearly 8000 people have attended the exhibit and there were over 300 exhibitors over a hundred of which were ad networks. This is clearly a highly competitive market. (more…)

Redefining the big idea

idg_wp_200x_bigidea The creative department is usually the source of the greatest magic in any agency. Not only is the creative department at the center of an agency’s business model it is also the heart and soul of our industry. However, it is also the most difficult area in the business to define, estimate and control.  I’ve lost count in the number of times a creative has said to me, that he is unable to estimate a cost or how long it will take to come up with an ‘idea’. So we often end up running the business based on guess work – not an effective way to run a business.

At the heart of this problem is the concept, or role, of ‘the big idea’.
